Steven Wiese has been a licensed psychologist in private practice since 1984. He began his career serving on staff with the Center for Christian Psychological Services, in Roseville, Minnesota, under the leadership of the late Dr. William Backus. In 1996 he began as Director at CCPS and served in that capacity until 2008. He was on the staff of Northland Counseling Services when CCPS became a satellite office of Northland, and continued until 2013. Since 2013, he has operated his own solo practice, also in Roseville, Minnesota. He does individual and marriage and family therapy with older children, adolescents, and adults. Steven works from a Christian approach and world view, and will incorporate it into his work with clients when that is desired. Areas of interest include depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, grief work, marriage and pre-marriage work, as well as restoring marriages affected by unfaithfulness.
His primary approach in individual counseling is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, though he incorporates other approaches as appropriate. He has completed Basic Training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) pioneered by Laney Rosenzweig, which is effective in working with trauma, PTSD, and anxiety. When working with marriage, pre-marriage and other relationship concerns, Steve primarily uses the Gottman Institute research and approach, having received Basic and Advanced Training with the Institute. He is an approved member for using the Gottman Relationship Checklist which allows couples to utilize the power of the Gottman Institute Research to learn more about their marriage. Insurance Information
Steve is an in-network provider for most insurance companies, with the exception of HealthPartners. It is always wise to check on a specific plan for coverage information. Steve works with Professional Services Consultants of Woodbury, Minnesota to manage all insurance, billing, and credentialing questions and concerns. The PSC staff is always helpful in checking on insurance information for clients prior to intake. The integrated Electronic Medical Records system Valant is used to coordinate records, billing and other information in a state of the art EMR suite.
